창세기 27:30-37

이삭을 속인 야곱
- 이삭이 야곱에게 복을 빌어 주다

이삭이 야곱에게 복을 빌어 준 후에 야곱이 아버지 이삭에게서 나오자마자, 에서가 사냥을 마치고 돌아왔습니다.

에서도 맛있는 요리를 만들어 그것을 들고 아버지에게 들어가 말했습니다. “아버지, 일어나셔서 이 아들이 사냥한 것으로 요리한 음식을 드시고, 저에게 복을 빌어 주십시오.”

이삭이 물었습니다. “너는 누구냐?” 에서가 대답했습니다. “저는 아버지의 맏아들 에서입니다.”

그 말을 듣고 이삭은 놀라 몸을 떨며 말했습니다. “그렇다면 네가 오기 전에 나에게 사냥한 짐승을 요리해서 가져다 준 사람은 누구란 말이냐? 나는 그것을 먹고 그에게 복을 빌어 주었다. 이제는 그 사람이 복을 받을 것이다.”

에서는 아버지의 말을 듣고 크게 소리를 지르며 울부짖었습니다. 에서가 자기 아버지에게 말했습니다. “저에게 복을 빌어 주십시오. 아버지, 저에게도 복을 주십시오.”

그러나 이삭이 말했습니다. “네 동생이 와서 나를 속였구나. 네 동생이 너의 복을 빼앗아 갔다.”

에서가 말했습니다. “야곱이란 이름은 정말 그에게 딱 맞는 이름입니다. 야곱은 이번까지 나를 두 번이나 속였습니다. 야곱은 저의 맏아들 권리를 빼앗았고, 이번에는 저의 복까지 빼앗아 갔습니다.” 에서가 또 물었습니다. “저를 위해 남겨 두신 복은 없습니까?”

이삭이 대답했습니다. “나는 이미 야곱에게 너를 다스릴 권리를 주었다. 그리고 야곱의 형제들은 모두 그의 종이 될 것이다. 나는 야곱에게 곡식과 포도주도 넉넉하게 주었다. 내 아들아, 너에게 줄 것은 아무것도 없구나.”

Genesis 27:30-37

After Isaac finished blessing him, and Jacob had scarcely left his father’s presence, his brother Esau came in from hunting. He too prepared some tasty food and brought it to his father. Then he said to him, “My father, please sit up and eat some of my game, so that you may give me your blessing.”

His father Isaac asked him, “Who are you?”

“I am your son,” he answered, “your firstborn, Esau.”

Isaac trembled violently and said, “Who was it, then, that hunted game and brought it to me? I ate it just before you came and I blessed him—and indeed he will be blessed!”

When Esau heard his father’s words, he burst out with a loud and bitter cry and said to his father, “Bless me—me too, my father!”

But he said, “Your brother came deceitfully and took your blessing.”

Esau said, “Isn’t he rightly named Jacob? This is the second time he has taken advantage of me: He took my birthright, and now he’s taken my blessing!” Then he asked, “Haven’t you reserved any blessing for me?”

Isaac answered Esau, “I have made him lord over you and have made all his relatives his servants, and I have sustained him with grain and new wine. So what can I possibly do for you, my son?”
